Voller Energy Group PLC (LSE: VLR) is one of the first companies in the world from which you can buy fuel cell systems.
Voller is a developer and manufacturer of portable fuel cell systems that produce the electrical energy you need but without the toxic emissions that contribute towards global warming and climate change. Founded in 2002, Voller Energy has built considerable expertise in fuel cell systems technology for use as battery chargers and mobile generators.
Voller Energy recently announced the fourth generation of their VE100 fuel cell product line the Fuel Cell ABC. The Fuel Cell ABC is a portable generator and battery charger that has a plug on the front just like the plug in the wall, but produces no toxic emissions when operating, in fact the only output is pure water.
New for 2007 will be a 1kW class fuel cell auxiliary power unit (APU) for yachts, site cabins RV's, leisure vehicles and other specialist applications. This system will run from propane, butane or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), often referred to as Calor Gas in the UK.
Voller's competitive advantage is that the Company can use best of breed components from any aspect of the fuel cell industry. This means that our customers enjoy the best systems from Voller Energy.

Automatic Battery Charger (ABC)
The ABC is a 100W portable fuel cell system packaged so that it is easy to carry and use anywhere, even underground. It is available in two different AC voltages; either 110V or 230V and both variants have both a 12VDC output and a USB charging port. This system can be used to power small portable devices such as IPODs or mobile phones or to simply recharge any battery. It is fully integrated for convenience and it boasts a frost sensor which enables the user to use it in below freezing conditions. The ABC has a serial port. This can be used for diagnosing the system e.g. for system statistics and fuel level reporting.
Portable power
Voller Energy is a leader in portable fuel cell systems, one of the first companies in the world who have deliverable technology. Portable fuel cells are widely predicted to be the first type of fuel cell to reach a mass market and Voller Energy is now well positioned as an early leader in this sector.
Climate change and global warming concern everyone. New technology can be used to help produce the energy we all need, but with reduced greenhouse gas emissions. Fuel cells are one exciting example of these new technologies.
The world fuel cell market will be worth $45 billion by 2011, and portable fuel cells will be worth $17 billion of this. Fuel cell systems can be broken down into three broad market areas: Portable (generators and battery chargers), Stationary (electrical power generation) and Transport (fuel cell powered vehicles).
Voller Energy is focused on the portable area. This is also expected to be the first area of the market where fuel cells will be accepted.
Leisure & Relaxation - Yachts, Boats and Camping
Yachts and recreational boats normally have DC 12v and/or 24v house circuits and use marine or traction (deep cycle) batteries for this purpose. Electrical power is a constant problem for any Skipper and the need to run the engine or genset for a long time every day to keep batteries charged is well known. Voller Energy is developing a 'fit and forget' power unit that can supply the house power load and keep batteries charged automatically. Voller Energy's reformer technology can be easily integrated into a yachts electrical systems to work from the yachts existing diesel or liquid petroleum gas (LPG) or propane supplies.
When installed, the system will quietly and automatically operate within a specified voltage range, switching itself on and off as required supplying the boats power requirements and keeping its batteries charged.
Military
VE900M military fuel cell was unveiled at DSEi (Defence Systems & Equipment International), the world's largest international tri-service defence exhibition in London, on Monday 13 September 2005. Voller is working with a number of specialist military battery suppliers to address the logistics and power sources area of the FIST programme. The charger is designed to fit into the webbing of the Future Integrated Soldier Technology (FIST) soldier project, which is the next stage of the UK's soldier modernisation programme.
According to a recent Smith Barney research report, the US Marines used approximately 3,000 batteries per day during the first two weeks of Operation Iraqi Freedom, implying a usage rate of over 4 million units per year for the military overall. In addition, the BA-5590 battery currently used by the military is heavy, weighing almost 2.5 lbs.
Construction Industry
On many construction sites power is not available, or is turned off for safety reasons. So charging the batteries used in cordless power tools can be a real problem. While conventional gasoline or diesel generators cannot be used indoors or on scaffolding, Voller Energy's fuel cell generators and battery chargers can be used wherever you are working. Speedy Hire is the leading supplier of cordless power tools to the UK construction industry. Voller Energy has been working with Speedy Hire to develop a cordless tool battery charger that can be used wherever you are working.
