Disenco Energy Signs Deal With Endesa To Trial And Test Its M-CHP Boilers

Sophisticated Aim investors are already familiar with the fuel cell-powered micro-combined heat and power (m-CHP) units being developed by Ceramic Fuel Cells and Ceres Power. Both these companies have recently signed development agreements with European utilities: namely Holland’s Nuon and the UK’s Centrica. UK-based Disenco Energy is also developing an m-CHP unit known as the HomePowerPlant. But instead of using fuel cells, Disenco’s m-CHP combines a low-cost condensing boiler system, an external combustion Sterling engine and an electrical generator.

In July Disenco signed an agreement with Spanish utility Endesa to test and trial the company’s products with a view to a possible future commercial sale into Endesa’s markets. These markets offer plenty of potential as Endesa has significant generation capacity in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Peru. The deal has a duration of 12 months subject to extension upon the agreement of both parties. It doesn’t involve any financial payments, but it does oblige the two sides to explore options...
