The London Array Is Back On Track, As Wind Power Overtakes Hydro As The UK’s Leading Source of Renewable Energy

It is ironic, but not totally surprising, that the UK's flagship offshore wind project, the London Array, should be rescued by overseas firms after the much-publicised withdrawal of Shell from the scheme earlier this year.

Fears about the future of the London Array have now been dispelled by the news that the other partners in the project, E.On of Germany and Dong Energy of Denmark, have bought out Shell's interest and will now press on with development plans. While it is indeed very positive news that E.On and Dong will now take the project forward, the UK's energy players should hang their heads in shame over the fact that the flagship offshore wind power project for the country is now in the hands of our...
