Company Statement

Finavera Renewables' objective is to become a major renewable and green energy producer by developing and operating its assets in the wind and wave energy sectors.

Operations and Technology

WIND

Canada
Peace Region
12 project portfolio in the Peace Region with an approximate capacity of 1,500MW. Meteorological towers are in place at five sites, and wind data is being compiled and analyzed in order to prepare Finavera Renewables for the next Request for Power in 2007.Hemmera Environmental Service Consultants has been engaged to proceed with the Environmental Assessment Process on several key sites.

Cascades Region
Six potential sites with an approximate capacity of 600MW.  Awaiting permit approval to begin a meteorological tower installation program.

Alberta Region
The project consists of two 75MW phases for a planned installed capacity of 150MW of wind power over 16,000 acres of land. The project areas are located in high efficiency wind resource area in central Alberta.
The first phase of the project, Ghost Pine, has received a grid connection offer from the AESO under Alberta’s self-imposed 900MW wind energy cap; the project is fifth on the list of firm capacity offered by AESO. Ghost Pine is at an advanced stage with construction planned to start in 2008 and commercial operations envisaged to commence in 2009.

Ireland
Two wind power projects totalling 175MW. Ireland is renowned for consistent high speed winds year round, and the Irish government recognizes the potential to harness that power. The government’s Renewables Directive requires 33% electricity derived from renewable sources by 2020. With only a fraction of the required install base established, there exists a substantial opportunity for suppliers of renewable energy.

WAVE
Makah Bay, Washington State, United States.
This wave energy pilot project in Northwest Washington State is one of the most advanced wave energy power projects in the United States. It is the first project to receive a power purchase agreement from a Public Utility, and it is in the final stage of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission licensing. The Makah Bay project is planned as a 1 MW demonstration plant. It is expected to generate 1500 MWh/year, which is enough energy to supply about 150 homes in Neah Bay each year.

Figueira de Foz
Finavera Renewables is developing the first phase of a commercial power project site in Figueira de Foz, Portugal to build a 100MW offshore wave energy plant. Initially, a 2MW demonstration plant will be constructed in 2009. Commercial expansion of the plant to 100MW would follow.

Ucluelet, British Columbia. West Coast of Vancouver Island.

Finavera Renewables has formed a consortium of project partners to investigate the potential for a wave energy power plant. The project plans an initial capacity of 5MW with expansion plans to 100MW.

Western Cape, South Africa.
Finavera Renewables CEO Jason Bak is a member of the Clinton Global Initiative, the former US president’s coalition of world and business leaders. As part of the initiative, Finavera Renewables has committed to developing a 20MW wave energy project in South Africa.
