Operations and Technology
Wind Energy
We have one wind farm in operation and a strong development pipeline which will deliver our target of 250MW of installed capacity from wind power by 2011.

- Commissioned in January 2006
- 17 turbines (0.85 MW Vestas)
- 98 per cent availability

WaterHydro power is a well established renewable energy power source, with over 6 per cent of the world's electricity supply generated from hydro stations.
There are a number of different configurations of plants used for hydro production. These include:
- Reservoir based facilities involving a body of water being impounded behind a dam and released to generate electricity.
- Low head 'run of river' facilities which generate electricity through the diversion of water from the main course to a generator.
- High head 'run of river' facilities that generate electricity through the diversion of water from a high drop to a generator.
Novera Energy focuses on small-scale hydro facilities. We have ten schemes ranging from 600 kW to 4.5 MW. Three of these are reservoir based facilities and seven are run of river.
Landfill Gas
Landfill Gas (LFG) provides 29 per cent. of the UK's renewable power. The gas is a mixture of methane and CO2 and is derived from the natural anaerobic breakdown of the biomass material contained in the waste contained within a landfill site. The gas is collected, treated and then used to generate electricity. The electricity is then supplied via the grid to our customers.
Novera is currently number two in the industry with 11 per cent market share. We operate 46 LFG sites across the UK with 85MWe of installed capacity on 22 'closed' (i.e. no further rubbish is added) and 24 'open' sites (those still in operation). The typical life of a site is 20 years after closure. We work closely with the 14 operators and landowners on whose land we operate.
